DIY face masks are a fun and affordable way to show your skin some extra love. Whether you're looking for deep exfoliation or a healthy glow, creating a mask that aligns with your facial needs can be done with just a few ingredients. These eight masks are among our favorites.

1. Plain Old Oatmeal

Packed with a natural exfoliant called saponin, oatmeal is known for removing dead skin cells. They have anti-inflammatory properties and contain antioxidants that work to fix dry spots. Oatmeal is also known to help treat acne as it can collect excess oil on the skin.

Ingredients

  • Oats

  • Water

Directions

  1. Cook the oats per the instructions on the container.

  2. Allow the oats to cool overnight in the refrigerator.

  3. Apply the oats to clean skin and let it sit for 15-20 minutes.

  4. Wash off with warm water.

To take it a step further, you can add a few drops of coconut oil for an added boost of antioxidants, protection, and other benefits.

2. Lime and Strawberries

Both limes and strawberries contain nutrients that have a positive impact on your skin. Limes are believed to reduce wrinkles, promote clear skin, and relieve inflammation. Strawberries fight free radicals and promote collagen reproduction.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp lime juice

  • 2-3 strawberries

Directions:

  1. Blend ingredients.

  2. Apply to clean skin and let it sit for 15-20 minutes.

  3. Wash off with warm water.

3. Turmeric Face Mask

One of our favorite benefits of turmeric is its anti-aging potential. Packed with all the goodies like antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, turmeric can help with scarring and can also decrease UV damage.

Of course, there’s a chance that reddish-orange color may stick around for a little while, so you may want to use gloves.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp turmeric

  • 3 tbsp dairy-free milk (I lean towards coconut milk)

  • 1 tbsp oats

  • 1 banana

Directions:

  1. Blend ingredients.

  2. Apply to clean skin and let it sit for 15-20 minutes.

  3. Wash off with warm water.

4. Cinnamon Coffee Mask

Cinnamon has anti-aging properties and promotes collagen reproduction. Coffee is another anti-aging ingredient that also has the power to reduce dark circles. It's also ideal to use after spending time in the sun. Using grounds will offer a great exfoliation experience, as well.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp coffee grounds or 1 cup brewed coffee, chilled

  • dash of cinnamon

  • 1/4 cup oatmeal

  • water (unless using brewed coffee)

Directions:

  1. Blend all ingredients.

  2. Apply to clean skin and let sit for 15-20 minutes.

  3. Rinse with warm water.

5. Tomato Juice and Aloe Vera

Because of a compound called lycopene, studies have suggested that tomato juice may be able to protect against skin cancer. Aloe vera is great for soothing (but not preventing!) sunburn and is also known to help with eczema and cold sores.

Ingredients:

  • Tomato juice

  • Aloe vera gel

Directions:

  1. Blend all ingredients.

  2. Apply to clean skin and let sit for 15-20 minutes.

  3. Rinse with warm water
