Book Review: Badass Habits by Jen Sincero

Badass Habits: Cultivate the Awareness, Boundaries, and Daily Upgrades You Need to Make Them Stick is the latest addition in Jen Sincero's Badass series. In my opinion, it's the best one. While the first three books were pretty damn empowering, Badass Habits provides readers with the 1-2-3 on how to unlock mental roadblocks that have prevented them from hitting targets in life. Furthermore, it serves more like a daily guide that you won't read just once on the journey towards success (whatever that means to you).

There are only five chapters and you can whip through the first three pretty quickly – just be sure to highlight and take notes along the way. Chapter four introduces 21 major lessons (one per day) that are essential for making new, good habits stick. The first time around, I actually listened to Badass Habits on Audible, a rewarding experience that I highly recommend. The second time, I went straight back to chapter four and intentionally spent a whole day immersing myself in all 21 lessons.

Let me tell ya, it's some powerful shit.

One of my favorite lessons is on day four where she teaches readers how to build good habits by mooching off of other ones. (Genius.) Another favorite is Jen's approach to taming triggers for bad behavior, a lesson she starts teaching on day five that is multiplied on day 12.

At its core, Badass Habits is about identifying with what you want and who you're becoming by establishing the right train of thought and following through with action. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to accomplish anything, no matter how great or small the goal.
